Purchasing Manager Jobs
Managers direct and coordinate the operations of a small business or of a department in a company. Managers take direction from top executives and usually report to the chief operating officer or to a vice president. Managers organize their divisions so that the employees in them know exactly what role each has to play. Managers ensure public relations are handled in a courteous and professional manner, both in a personal way as well as for other employees. Managers oversee the ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, advertising, and researching of all merchandise selections. They also assist in the formulation of policies related to marketing of merchandise. Managers analyze, plan, and coordinate all sales programs as well as manage and coordinate special events and visual presentations in terms of advertising, layout, and merchandising. Managers prepare annual budgets of anticipated sales, expenses, and inventories; they reviews financial statements regularly to monitor potential problems. Managers coordinate all matters related to receiving records, invoices, transfers, shortage and damage reports, and purchase orders.
Managers require a bachelor’s degree in business administration or other discipline and should have two to three years of experience in the management field. Managers should be able to read and analyze a great deal of information in a short period of time. Strong organizational and analytical skills along with good written and oral communication skills are required. Managers must have strong leadership qualities and must be able to get excellent performance from their support staff.
