Senior buyers organize, update, and retain product information files and purchase order records. Senior buyers approve price increases provided for in contracts and make changes as necessary and appropriate. Senior buyers interpret and evaluate contract provisions. Senior buyers review orders for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing policies and procedures.
Senior buyers require a bachelor’s degree in materials management, purchasing, or in a related field. Senior buyers should have five to eight years’ related experience. Senior buyers should also demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in a changing, dynamic environment. Good communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are required.
