Job Summary:

Manage the stocking and procurement of the Pasadena Fulfillment Center inventory of assigned product categories and improve the balance between days on hand inventory and material availability.

Utilize planning tools (Min/Max, reorder points, safety stock, supermarkets, etc.) to ensure optimum stocking levels are set at the different distribution center locations.

Lead and/or participate in the SIOP process for assigned product categories, by preparing data, analyzing inventory trends, reviewing forecasts, demand patterns, lead times, key performance metrics and system planning settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Create, Issue, Maintain and Expedite purchase orders for assigned product categories. These categories may be direct/indirect material (raw material, components, finished goods, supplies, services or other materials).

Develop and implement economical procurement plans for purchased materials or services, according to business and corporate objectives to ensure continuous, uninterrupted production/shipments, including but not limited to negotiating with vendors to obtain the most favorable price and delivery.

Ability to interpret forecast into production/purchasing plan for better material management and better utilization of working capital/inventory investment throughout the manufacturing locations or distribution centers.

Design and implement short term and long-term inventory plans that meet and/or exceed business targets, including improved productivity, quality, safety, cost and efficiency of operations.

Create, maintain and update item master information for assigned items. Work with product management to obtain item master data, specification sheets and other pertinent documents as required to purchase products. Interface with New Product Development and Engineering departments and respond to product changes as required.

Ability to work with Engineering, Product Management, Suppliers and functional departments to utilize existing inventory to meet customer needs, as well as reduce purchasing and material costs.

Participate and/or Lead Kaizen events regarding inventory management. Employ lean concepts and techniques, working closely with lean teams to improve days on hand.

Measure and monitor supplier performance (on time delivery) and report out vendor issues/delays for managed vendors. Daily contact with vendors, plant personnel and corporate contacts may be required.

Experience in developing supplier relationships to enable company to gain market share. May seek out suppliers and obtain price quotations and specifications. Applies knowledge of vendor sources and consider suitability of materials offered and delivery possibilities.

Support the logistics team with freight and duty costs, transportation lanes, as well as Incoterms to our customers, sales teams or vendors.

Coordinate with Global Emerson Manufacturing locations and/or vendor base to execute project order customer schedules.

Support Finance team in the maintenance of standard costs, as well as the reconciliation of invoice and receipt discrepancies with the Accounts Payable team.

Maintain documentation, files and records required by corporate.

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and be able to interact with associates and managers in various departments/countries and resolve common concerns with diplomacy and professionalism.

Demonstrate dedicated responsibility to follow all company, quality, and safety policies and procedures.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Will perform all duties using required safety guidelines including wearing appropriate, personal protective equipment i.e., safety glasses with side shields, steel toed safety shoes and hearing protection while in production facility as required.

Oracle experience preferred.

APICS / CPM certification preferred.

Microsoft Office experience required – including Microsoft Outlook, Excel (advanced) and Access.

Certifications such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Greenbelt etc. also a plus.

Technical skills in Lean Manufacturing techniques, Kaizen, Process Improvement, supermarket, PFEP freight and distribution, materials management and production scheduling.

Functional understanding of accounting practices, costing, bills of materials and shipping practices preferred.

An ability to think ahead and plan over a multi-year time span.

The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.

Must have great analytical, creative and interpersonal skills.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Strong customer orientation.

High commitment to company values.

Occasional travel required.

Skills and abilities required:
