Support for Serious Emergencies, with traumatic injury, saving time is crucial. Tristar Skyline is designated to quickly care for severely injured patients and increase chances of survival. Access to emergency treatment across Middle Tennessee and the greater Nashville area. We're located off of I-65, I-24 and Briley Parkway for convenient access. With two helipads located directly outside of the ER to provide rapid response time Trauma rooms located directly inside ambulance entrance Critical care unit, surgical suites and imaging located next to ER for rapid access to diagnosis and treatment.

is currently looking for its next Pharmacy Buyer.

Department: Pharmacy

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Procurement of medications and supplies from appropriate sources and ensuring proper storage to maintain their quality and integrity

Performs inventory management activities that ensure adequate stocks of medications, oversees the removal of outdated and recalled medications from supply, maintains purchasing contract compliance, promotes cost effectiveness, and works in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations

This position also performs routine responsibilities of a Certified Pharmacy Technician as needed to assist the department meet patient care needs.

Department Specific Criteria:

Procures and distributes medications according to established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.

Receives and inventories secondary vendor order including narcotics daily.

Sustains the hospital formulary by minimizing the non-formulary procurements and by use and reconciliation of borrow/loan procedures.

Coordinates the removal of medications from inventory based on expiration or recall and reallocates and returns stock as necessary.

Ensures that all medications are properly labeled/stored and appropriate par levels are maintained within the pharmacy for Intravenous solutions and medications.

Works with the Pharmacy Management team to coordinate drug supply levels during drug shortages investigates root cause of Automated Dispensing Machine 'out of stock'.

Assists with directing physical inventories as required, both daily and bi-annual.

Ensures employees are trained and properly using the Pharmacy point of use system.

Personally maintains inventory of high cost medications.

Establishes and maintains long-term customer relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations of internal hospital employees and external vendors.

Demonstrates proficiency in required operating systems: (ie Meditech, Automated Dispensing Machines, Microsoft Office, packaging and compounding equipment/software, phone/voicemail system, etc.)

Participates in weekly anesthesia audits and narcotic inventories as a leader.

Participates in CSC/CSOS/SMART reporting and record keeping as a leader.

Participates in formulary, budget, and inventory management processes as a leader.

Participates in the process and quality improvement activities of the department.

Demonstrates competence required for current job title /position.

Maintains professional growth and development through continuing education to remain current

Helps maintain the department in a clean and orderly fashion.

Performs other duties as assigned by director.

Is compliant with all Human Resource requirements.

Position Qualifications:

Technician training program preferred

Knowledge of general pharmacy practices and procedures

Registration with the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy

Interpersonal skills to successfully interact with coworkers, vendors and other hospital staff in all situations

Demonstrated competency in each area of the Performance Measurement Tool

Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board

Two years health-system experience required

Prior purchasing experience preferred
