This is an exciting opportunity in Rocky Mount, North Carolina for a Materials Planner/Buyer Technician.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
Plans, orders and expedites materials needed in the manufacturing process. Interacts with Internal/External Customers and Suppliers.Plan the most economical flow of purchased material to ensure that production needs are met and shortages are avoided
Expedite incoming materials to maintain production schedules, to meet emergency, situations and fluctuating schedules
Manage inventory levels in dollars and days supply as stated in the company goals
Manage the engineering change releases by evaluating and setting effective dates to ensure they are met
Manage supply base to avoid premium freight cost for incoming components
Maintain good communication with suppliers
Monitor vendor performance as related to on-time delivery of materials and firm line-set integrity
Drive corrective action at the supply base as required
Support and adhere to safety and housekeeping policies
Support Star Point activities and Team Base Work System (TBWS)
Compensation and Benefits
Base hourly rate commensurate with experience . Previous buying/planning experience
Demonstrated experience with the Value Package (New Product) Introduction process
Knowledge of and working experience in Materials Resource Planning (i.e. Oracle)
Good written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of inventory accuracy and control
Working knowledge of Just-In-Time inventory management, Engineering Release Documents and Product Change
Experience working with Customer Service and Scheduling teams to provide adequate response to ensure Customer Demand needs are met on time
Technical skills or college a plus
APICS participation/certification a plus
Advanced Excel skills a plus
