About The Opportunity Responsible for the development and implementation of purchasing strategies for engineering components within the North American region while ensuring the achievement of monthly\/annual Quality Cost and Delivery (QCD) targets. Ensure the involvement of Purchasing in any new program from the earliest stage of the NBA process. Initiate Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and set QCD targets with the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Purchasing Director. Validate the purchasing assumptions used for the NBA-Q before the offer is sent to the Customer. Review technical specifications with appropriate personnel to ensure effective sourcing to meet objectives on cost, quality, delivery, and function. Issue RFQ\u2019s to suppliers, incorporating the strategies and direction of Regional and Global Commodity Purchasing staff members to maximize leverage\/synergy opportunities. With support from Commodity Purchasing, conduct negotiations, select suppliers and establish contractual agreements as authorized and required to meet Company and program objectives to ensure successful launch on-time and at or below targeted costs. Directly manage supplier issues and design changes, including cost negotiations as required. Escalate when required. Provide support in the management of the performance of suppliers in terms of quality, on-time delivery, cost management and service to the Company. Liaise as appropriate with internal employees, suppliers, and customers to manage critical supplier quality or delivery concerns. Participate in supplier audits as needed to support this requirement. Manage administrative and legal issues with respect to contract administration, order processing (prototypes, tooling & open orders), ramp-up volumes, etc. Engage and prioritize relevant resources in the very early stages of NBA and program development. Manage activities to meet internal customer expectations. Candidate must have a minimum of two years of experience in the position offered, or in a similar position, such as Process Engineer or Deputy Manager, International Operations. Experience must include use of use of lean principles for business process optimization, process improvement and continuous improvement expertise; as well as supplier negotiation and management, within the automotive and logistics fields.
