Sierra Nevada Job Corps is currently looking for an Assistant Buyer. Position reports to the buyer and is responsible for processing purchase orders originated through Purchase Requests (PRs), blanket purchase orders and government agency contracts, in compliance with government and management directives.Position Description:Review requisitions to determine what vendors are to be contacted for price quotations and placement of contracts; evaluate all bids, select a vendor, and place purchase orders as directed by buyer.Ensure adherence to quality standards, required delivery schedules and contractual items.Assist buyer in effecting procurement policy decisions when called upon.Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Service Contract Act (SCA) wage determination/prevailing wages. Keep accurate and complete records of purchase orders and purchase requests.Participate in vendor negotiations and meetings when needed.Write, proofread, and place purchase orders and monitor marketing trends.Education and Experience Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent and two years related experience required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
