With more than 450 physicians, 4,700 employees, and 1,100 volunteers, Cape Cod Healthcare operates two-acute care hospitals, the Cape's leading provider of homecare and hospice services (VNA), a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility (JML Care Center), an assisted living facility (Heritage at Falmouth), the Cape's only local laboratory service (CCHC Laboratory Services) and numerous health programs.
We are currently seeking a dedicated Buyer to join our team at Cape Cod Hospital.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Performs a variety of duties to purchase material, equipment, merchandise and supplies according to hospital guidelines for cost, quality and delivery.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.
Ensures that hospital standard procedures are followed in connection with purchases of materials and services.
Prepares materials and supplies purchase orders, analyzes quotations and expedites deliveries and shipments.
Maintains purchase order files and related purchasing records.
Follow up with vendors to ensure they meet required delivery dates.
Maintains files and records of current and potential suppliers, materials, prices, delivery schedules and inventories.
Prepares documents to process requests for equipment repairs, adjustments for damaged and incorrect shipments.
Purchases materials, supplies, equipment and services from vendors.
Researches and selects products according to quality, price and serviceability standards.
Contacts vendors and hospital personnel to ensure actions are completed.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings and workshops.
Attends meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Prior successful experience as either Senior Processing Technician, OR/RR Communications and Equipment Coordinator or CCH Materials Management Dispatcher or Secretary/Materials Management; and Medical Terminology; and experience operating computer terminal; and successful completion of a college course in Business Law or Business Administration; and able to function well under stress.
Or an Associate's degree in business; and prior successful experience as a buyer.
