We are seeking an Assistant Buyer, Men’s for the Appleseed’s Group, to be located at our office in Middleton, Massachusetts. Appleseed’s has been serving women in the prime of their lives for over 60 years, offering high-quality apparel and modern updates to classic styles for women.
The Assistant Buyer will provide administrative support to the Buyer in the selection, purchasing, and developing of product for company catalogs. Assist with the process from concept thru delivery of merchandise. Will work closely with other selection buyers, inventory control, product development, technical, sourcing, the distribution center, quality assurance, customer service, catalog production, and vendors in order to assure a consistent and accurate flow of information, as well as trouble-shoot and track products.
What you’ll do:
Initiate fact sheets/copy cards by gathering specific information on products being bought or developed for the catalog
Proof-read copy for each catalog ensuring all information is correct
Work with vendors to obtain photo and fit samples, sizing info, product details and swatches for swatch book
Manage photo sample inventory by season
Resolve routine inquiries from both within and outside the organization
Maintain and continuously update buyer assortment plans, as well as communicating changes to all involved depts.
Update WIPS report as needed
Work with Buyer on spread development and completion
Provide selling analysis by season, by size range, by color, and by style attributes, etc.
Prepare for seasonal kick-off, best-sellers, and turn-over meetings
Review and analyze return rates, items for liquidation, and SKU performance
Update and maintain web drop ship assortment
Attend weekly customer service meetings; make recommendations based on customer comments
Additional responsibilities will be assigned based on business needs.
What you’ll need:
BA/BS preferred or equivalent experience
2 years merchandising experience or equivalent
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
Ability to work in surroundings that are fast paced and ever-changing
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Strong math skills desired
Various database management systems and Flex PLM experience preferred
Experience with catalog & web channel businesses preferred
