The Purchasing Assistant purchases supplies and equipment for hospital departments and the Storeroom/Central Supply inventory. Orders requested products from vendors. Communicates order status to requesting departments. Coordinates with the CPO buyers for final purchase order numbers. Monitors backorders and obtains substitutes from other sources in emergency situations. Monitors requests for contract compliance, pricing and reduced or free freight. Maintains computer files with updated information. Assists with vendor program and visitation compliance. A hospital is only as good as its caregivers.
