Vacancy: Buyer Location: BRIMSDOWN We are looking to recruit a confident and organised individual to join our purchasing team. You will play a critical role in our mission to source, negotiate and implement contract services, to the manufacturing operation, covering both direct and indirect categories. The successful candidate will need to ensure that an exceptional quality of service is provided by the vendor and contractor base at the same time as delivering high value and significant year on year cost reductions. Key responsibilities Adhere to any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of self, staff and visitors Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods Review market place to determine potential alternative products and suppliers Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules Prepare tender documents and manage tender process through to completion Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships and keep up good communications Assess and evaluate suppliers and contribute to performance reviews to ensure contract compliance Routinely monitor outstanding purchase orders and take appropriate actions to progress in order to meet deadlines set by production. Are you the ideal candidate? You will have: Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree Charter Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or similar qualification or studying towards CIPS qualification would be beneficial Experience of working within a procurement role, preferable in a manufacturing environment Experience of working closely with suppliers Computer literate, with advanced Excel skills Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with staff, stakeholder and suppliers Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills Analytical, numerically astute, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets Able to work well under pressure and handle emergency and stressful situations High energy and enthusiasm Keen attention to detail and accuracy How to apply: Internal applicants should advise their line manager before applying.
