About The Role:
The Senior Buyer for the Direct Purchasing Team is responsible for procuring raw materials, supplies and services, to ensure a 100% customer service level, while achieving the targeted inventory turn objective. They are also responsible to strike an optimal balance between cost, quality, delivery and service in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Buyer is responsible to thoroughly understand the commodities they support, to give the organization a competitive advantage and evaluate suppliers' capabilities, negotiate and administer contracts as necessary.
Your Responsibilities Include:
*Leadership: Emerging leader internal and externally. Challenges and improves traditional approaches to system or design efforts and documentation. Leads some mid-scale projects. Eliminates roadblocks to be able to execute goals. Keeps morale, enthusiasm, and performance levels high even in periods of intense pressure. *Customer Service: Engages with customers to understand needs. Leads others in developing solutions to close customer service gaps. Proactively communicate solutions back to customer to help drive strategy. Continually seeks to meet and exceed the expectations of the customer, i.e. NPD timing and execution. *Team Work and Relationship Building: Develops and utilizes experience across various functions and sites both internally and externally to deliver greater results for BSC. Develops self through partnerships and mentoring. Thinks and acts win-win. Creates an environment where individuals recognize each other's achievements. *Communications: Effectively tailors communication style towards audience and situation to maximize impact. Proactively communicates important issues in an appropriate manner even when unpopular. Demonstrates ability to effectively and concisely present at the Leadership level.
Project Management Responsibilities:
*Lead LBP (Lean Business Process) and CI (Continuous Improvement) activities together with the CI and LBP Champion. *Prioritize projects for the Direct Procurement team - both strategic and process focused. *Lead the development and implementation of process maps, work instructions, and policy creation to improve the team's efficiencies and overall performance. *Work closely with the Purchasing Business Prosses Lead in creating tools to supplement both existing and new processes. *Partner with the Direct Buyers to identify/reduce waste and streamline processes with focus on simplifying the day-to-day management of their responsibilities. *Assist the Direct Purchasing Manager by facilitating meetings and capturing progress on high level projects i.e. - inventory right sizing, pallet reduction, Plan For Every Part. *Benchmark with other BSC sites to develop and implement best business practices. *Assist the Direct Buyers with business-critical issues and/or projects (examples: Inventory Projection Templates, Healthy Stock Projections, Rapid Response training, etc.) *Work cross-functionally to assure that we're not only meeting our customer expectations (e.g. Planning, Production, etc.) but also adequately representing our Direct Purchasing's goals and objectives.
What We're Looking For:
*Bachelor's Degree required with 5-7 years buying/purchasing work experience *Previous Project Management experience partnering with cross functional teams *Strong organizational and communication skills *Experience with ERP system implementation preferred *Demonstrated experience leading lean business process and continuous improvement projects
