We are seeking a Sr. Buyer for to be located at our office in Eden Prairie, MN. The Sr. Buyer for the Gettington brand is responsible for setting the vision and strategic plans, as well as the successful execution of those plans, for the acquisition of products within assigned product categories across multiple brands. This responsibility includes consistently delivering against, or exceeding, assortment, sales and market segment growth targets. This position owns assortment and brand expansion, vendor negotiations, vendor relationships, and category strategies and growth for assigned product categories.

What You'll Do:

The Sr. Buyer leads a team of 2 individuals with sales responsibility for $50M - $300M annually, depending on category and complexity. Sr. Buyers are directly involved in the execution of buying activities for categories under their supervision including managing 50-100 vendors and sourcing an appropriate level of assortment to achieve your goals.

Owns Brand level P&L including development of financial plans to meet sales, margin, and turnover targets, measuring performance against those plans and making real time adjustments in execution to address any issues with meeting the plan.

Drives large scale, high visibility projects in collaboration with the Buying Directors and Buyers.

Partners closely with Inventory Manager and Buyers on planning and business strategy, drive best-in-class customer experience and maximize unit and GM$ growth through timely analysis and action.

Develops strategy for all promotional activities within the brand including analysis, promotional planning, product identification, messaging, pricing, and presentation and partners closely with Site Merchandising and Print team to help execute vision.

Develop, review and approve pricing strategy for responsible categories. Interprets analysis and makes changes to the pricing direction.

Establishes and executes a negotiation roadmap for their categories, including vendor consolidation, cost of goods sold improvement, increased vendor rebates and allowances, and assortment optimization.

Partners closely with the Private Brand development team to drive increased sales and GM$ growth in their category of responsibility.

Creates and communicates business plans for new opportunities - category gaps, presentation, and promotion. Conducts financial analysis on new opportunities to set and meet sales and profit targets.

Develops a thorough understanding of Role and Intent of a category utilizing data on market segments, seasonality and global business trends/events for branded categories, and continually monitors competitor/industry developments to help support their strategy.

Oversees total assortment strategy by analyzing dropship and warehouse productivity and being intentional with how you think about the mix of National, Market Brands, Private Brands and Outlet.

Sets the tone for the culture of the team and holds people accountable.

Responsible for additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Business, or related field or equivalent work experience required.

5-7 years of merchandising experience required, preferably in the multi-channel or Mass Retail industries.

Self-starter, have a high level of flexibility and commitment, and a strong drive to win.

Must possess strong leadership skills including recruiting, developing and motivating teams, influencing others and effectively communicating.

Successful track record of negotiating with vendors.

Strong communication and collaboration skills and creates strong relationships.

Must possess ability to make effective business judgment calls, the analytical horsepower to break down complex problems, and the willingness to roll up his or her sleeves.

The successful candidate will be entrepreneurial, innovative, and excel at “thinking big,” while also recognizing the need to coordinate his or her team’s activities within the company structure.

Must be open and flexible for travel as needed.

Possess experience in scaling new businesses.
