Job DescriptionJob ScopeThis position reports to the Plant Operations Manager and is responsible for strategic and tactical purchasing support, which includes Purchasing, Material Planning and Scheduling, and Cycle Counting. This position is responsible for the quality, delivery and productivity of suppliers, cost effective and efficient services and supplies, asset procurement, inventory control, and production scheduling.\u00a0The successful candidate will be able to perform these responsibilities and analyze business data to effectively support and improve plant operations.Principal QualificationsGeneralBachelor\u2019s degree in supply chain management or related field and\/or high school diploma plus equivalent related experiences in Manufacturing or Procurement are required. Further experience or education in inventory control and material planning would be advantageous.Comprehensive knowledge of the procedures and systems used in the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment and services to support manufacturing. Experience using planning tools in a manufacturing ERP system.Computer literacy with knowledge of ERP programs, strong Microsoft Excel and math skills, and the construction and utilization of bills of material with material traceability.Skills required include strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to multi-task, ability to communicate effectively, self-motivated, ability to work independently and in a team.Essential Job FunctionsImplement and drive the Master Production Schedule to make provisions for all variations of customer demand, company efficiency and inventory control goals.Analyze MRP to support factory\u2019s material requirements, and issue Purchase Orders based upon MRP recommendations. Manage inventory shortages, including root cause analysis and action plans.Manage ERP parts database, to include verifying the validity of the database for proper planning results.Support the Purchasing Department\u2019s role in fulfilling needs outlined under SQF requirements.Gives timely and effective communication to suppliers of forecasts and purchase requirements. Assists with negotiations of supplier pricing, terms, service agreements, and with supplier performance evaluations.Update and maintain production planning reports, performance reports and KPI\u2019s.Support cost analysis, new product development and scheduling for new product ramp ups, ongoing product change management, commodity strategies.Completes production entry responsibilities timely and accurately.Ensures all raw ingredients, packaging materials, and finished goods inventories remain accurate against MRP; Ensures traceability of all inventory is maintained with accuracy.Performs cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy, ensure proper stock rotation, evaluate product dating and eliminate product losses.Assists in semi-annual physical inventory counts.Identify obsolete inventory and work with management to disposition.Audits engineering masters for accuracy, ensuring bill of materials reflect current formula information.Reports production paperwork errors to Blending Manager, and participates in solutions to prevent or control errors.Receives delivered supplies, confirms goods match purchase order specifications, and completes necessary processes for stock items received.Organizes and maintains office and plant supply inventory via effective Kanban systems; stocks items received in a timely manner.\u00a0Executes the procurement of all parts, supplies, and materials necessary for daily operation, including office supplies, MRO items, and PPE items. Enters purchase orders for assigned parts and follows through to ensure orders are processed timely and delivery will be made per company needs.Performs other duties as assigned by Plant Manager and assumes a shared responsibility in personal growth and development goals.Frequently required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must be able to lift and\/or move up to 50 pounds.Performance StandardsA high degree of emphasis is placed on inventory and traceability accuracy.High food-safety and food-quality standards are emphasized and maintained.
