POSITION PURPOSE and ACCOUNTABILITY: The NPI\/Advanced Purchasing Buyer represents the Purchasing Function on new product development projects for products developed \/ engineered \/ manufactured at his\/her facility. The NPI\/Adv. Purchasing Buyer executes the sourcing process on new product developments.\u00a0He\/she will be based at a plant, interacting with the local Product Development team, in particular with Engineering.\u00a0As a result, a robust technical background and collaborative approach is required.\u00a0Strong Cross-Functional Thinking, Project Management and Communication Skills are the other key attributes required by this role. Primary details include: Present to the Purchasing Organization the content of the future projects and plan the main activities for the selection of the suppliers and the delivery of the parts. Evaluate the impact of the project in terms of purchasing workload. Consolidate the Capital Expenditure Request (CER) for supplier investments and budget forecasts on projects at his\/her site. Track and report product cost \/ investment for purchased parts (actual vs. target). Support the definition and agree on target cost for new product components in his plant and provide all necessary activity to meet target costs while adhering to the commodity strategies as established by the Global Commodity Managers\/Directors. In collaboration with the Regional NPI\/Adv. Purchasing Manager, coordinate buyers consistently with the global sourcing process in collaboration with the local purchasing managers and the \Global Purchasing Organization\. Use global processes and tools to support Purchasing, Engineering and Product Management goals (including consistent use of Preferred Supplier Lists, global sourcing process, AMPIP process, etc.). Provide full transparency on sourcing timeline and timely involve on sourcing decision Global NPI ensuring adherence to EPC model. Support the development and implement Commodity strategies in collaboration with Global Commodity Managers (GCMs). Plans and tracks RfX activity according to project needs and against design releases from Engineering. Support Quality on PPAP process by facilitating exchange of information to\/from Suppliers. Tracking and reporting PPAP when required. Actively participate in key negotiations as decided on a case by case basis by Purchasing Governance. Major areas of accountability are: NPI Cost, Timing, Quality targets Ensure that target costs are consistent with Global Commodity Managers\/Directors latest cost arrangements for carry over parts and are achievable for new components. Support by Supplier Cost Analysis team should be also coordinated. Ensure that target costs are met when new product\/application is production ready. Develop master component schedule (list of new components requiring sourcing, timelines for RfX, negotiation, award, prototype deliveries when required, series component deliveries when required, PPAP scheduling when required). Coordinate sourcing of NPI components (executed by Commodity Buyers) consistently with global commodity strategy and meeting overall new product cost, quality and schedule. Assess project maturity all along the development cycle and escalate when gaps vs. ideal status are judged excessive and not possible to fill with normal development work. Education Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, engineering, or similar field of study preferred.\u00a0 Qualifications and Experience APICS or ISM Certification or advanced degree preferred. 5 years\u2019 experience in production control, purchasing, or engineering. Excellent computer skills, ability to work in many systems. SAP experience preferred. Possess above average analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to think conceptually with a real commitment to change and continuous improvement. Must have excellent communications skills Strong drive for results to facilitate efforts to ensure supplier alignment with the plant. Must have ability to navigate conflicting agendas and obtain agreement. Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster problem solving and culture change. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
