Position Summary:

This position is within the Fisher BioServices business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Sourcing/Purchasing Manager will drive strategic and tactical initiatives that implement and improve all phases of sourcing for FBS sites. This position will work very closely with supply chain, operations, commercial leaders, and finance to meet internal goals and market expectations. Specific functional responsibilities include suppliers' management, internal procurement activities management, and participation in continuous improvement projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the companyu0027s supply portfolio by ensuring transparency of spending

Generate and implement efficient sourcing and category management strategies

Develop a government process by implementing policies and procedures for the purchasing function from requisitions to invoicing

Categorize company suppliers to assure proper oversight and daily management, leverage with divisional sourcing management

Coordinate purchasing activities with other departments to acquire materials, equipment, and services in a cost effective and timely manner

Develop new supply sources, as needed, to support and meet new projects and services requirements

Understand and enforce execution of our Supplier Quality requirements and best practices by working with Supplier Quality to ensure that GMP requirements are met.

Participate in any regulatory or client audits to sourcing / purchasing department. Ensure 100% GMP compliance

Coordinate with site buyers or coordinators to assure proper alignment with daily activities and supplier management responsibilities

Develop, manage and deliver a sourcing / purchasing dashboard with metrics as Spending, Savings, vendor performance, order management, improvements, etc. by using the FBS continuous improvement system (PPI)

Provide functional strategy to guide the daily execution, performance improvement and career development of the function organization staff. (future)

Provide support to all FBS sites in USA

Participate in Divisional and Corporate Sourcing / purchasing councils or forums to drive best practice sharing, benchmarking and talent development.

Performs other related duties as required and/or assigned

Willingness and ability to travel (up to 10% of the time).

Demonstrated negotiations skills and ability to work with external parties

Purchasing certification (CPM or comparable), preferred.

Requires ability to implement new programs with little direction.

Requires good documentation and verbal communication skills.

Requires excellent judgment, decision and discretion abilities.

Requires proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority Education/ Experience:

Requires Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management, or related field preferred. Master's Degree is preferred.

Requires 3 years of experience being responsible for a materials management / purchasing / sourcing functions with exposure to low volume/high mix consumables, preferably in a manufacturing and/or distribution operations environment

Requires strong knowledge and expertise of GMP requirements

CPM or APICS certifications are a plus

Requires hands on experience with procurement functionality in ERP or software solutions

Requires demonstrated experience and success using continuous improvement methodologies, preferably in purchasing or materials management.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Supervises buyers or/and purchasing coordinator (future)

Work Schedule:

8AM to 5PM core hours, additional hours as required. 10% Travel.

Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Must be able to use a computer up to 8 hours per day.

Must be able travel to all local and global sites as needed.
