GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Buying Specialist (Assistant Buyer) supports the creation and execution of the merchandise strategy for assigned department. This position translates information and decisions from the Buyer to ensure the smooth operation of the buying office. This position also partners with planning, site, and marketing teams to drive sales. This role manages the flow of information into and out of the buying office.

REPORTS TO: Buyer

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Analyzes selling reports and provides insights by CC (style/color) to the Buyer
• Supports Merchant in reacting to current business trends by canceling and/or shifting orders based on the sales reports.
• Maintain on order tracking and surface any potential issues to the team.
• Assist Merch Coordinator with any overflow PO processing. Must have knowledge of the how-to PO process from start to finish.
• Ensures Purchase Order steps done by Sourcing Team are completed in timely manner.
• Anticipate needs of the buying department and communicate with other team members about a variety of updates (deliveries, product, samples, etc).
• Investigate topics and requests that are unfamiliar to provide answers to. Helping other teams (marketing ie get the samples to them, help copy provide description and material specs, etc)
• Run selling reports and analyze data to identify the best and worst sellers; review with the team to determine how information should be interpreted and what action steps are needed
• Persistent follow up with Sourcing team on all costing, discounts, shipping, deliveries, and any outstanding product issues. Updates any reporting about delays and cost changes to Production Coordinator.
• Anticipates issues, troubleshoots, and provides guidance to the appropriate cross-functional teams to ensure that product delivery meets customer satisfaction. Thinking in creative ways to troubleshoot when different scenarios come up. Must understand the big picture and how different issues affect business decisions.
• Help build product assortments and identify trends that are relevant to the Vince Camuto brand
• Maintain assortment tracking tools that keep the team in the loop as to the current and future assortments by month
• Maintain and build strong cross-functional relationships, both internal and external
• Proactively seek out opportunities to grow the business and further personal & professional development

EXPERIENCE:
• 3+ years of experience of retail buying/merchandising experience or related field
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•  Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
• Ability to learn Microstrategy and other merchant computer based systems
 
 

EDUCATION:

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Retail Merchandising, Marketing or Business related field
