Buyer Purchasing, Dearborn, MI
Execute commercial activity necessary to support sales of aftermarket performance parts. Manage client Performance Parts supply chain for assigned commodities.
Work with Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Depot Operations to achieve backorder and inventory objectives.
Implement department supply strategy for production inventory by selecting suppliers for parts, materials, tooling and services as allowed by the corporate purchasing delegation of authority. Manage the total supply chain for assigned performance parts – demand forecasting, ordering, and follow-up.
Conduct RFQ’s, analyze quotes and negotiate best possible procurement terms with suppliers Conduct market tests for areas of opportunity to increase quality and profitability.
Expedite critical parts delivery and lead resolution of supplier delivery and quality issues
Provide commercial support to department functions as needed - marketing, sales, e-business, warehouse operations, logistics, engineering services, and tooling.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in department information management systems.
Work continuously to improve department quality, processes and systems.
Work to ensure department adherence to client corporate policy and delegation of authority Audit bailed parts inventory at supplier locations.
Educate suppliers on client processes and requirements
Understanding of basic manufacturing methods, tooling and cost analysis a plus.
Understanding of warehousing, packaging and logistics management a plus.
Knowledge of FCSD systems MMP/COPS a plus.
Knowledge of corporate purchasing and finance systems CPARS/CCAPS a plus.
Knowledge of prototype purchasing system GPIRS a plus.
Experience with demand forecasting a plus.
Developed Excel and Word skills.
Developed written and oral communication skills.
Self-motivated, enjoys creative problem solving and able to work successfully in a team environment.
Standard work hours; occasional travel required
Bachelor’s Degree required.
