Planner Jobs

Planners administer and coordinate multiple complex-advanced or special projects. Planners organize and employ resources to achieve project objectives. They also prepare and monitor project budgets. Planners organize and administer research studies, conduct analyses, and prepare reports and recommendations regarding land use, infrastructure improvement, environmental requirements, and other matters. Planners analyze planning issues and determine project schedules and priorities. Planners prepare and make presentations to decision-makers and to the public and research and respond to officials’ requests for information. Planners instruct and check the work of less-experienced planning staff and may provide work direction to others on a project basis. Planners oversee the work of consultants and monitor consultant contracts and project budgets. Planners research, analyze, and summarize planning data both manually and with computer programs. Planners establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of the work. Planners interpret and understand engineering and architectural plans, concepts, and methodologies. They prepare clear visual displays and present ideas persuasively.

Planners should have the ability to perform responsible and complex long-term planning, specifically environmental planning. Planners should have excellent planning and organizational skills including time and priority management. Planners must be detail oriented. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
